| This is a photograph of William Cranch who was the Chief Justice of the Circuit Court of the District of Columbia in the mid nineteenth century. This photograph was taken between 1844-1860 and is part of the Library of Congress collection. Judge William Cranch administered the oath of office for Presidents John Tyler and Millard Fillmore. The face on this photograph was fairly free of damage except for a few lines, but was overexposed. The majority of repair centered around correcting the exposure problem, the background and, his robe/suit. |
